This?
This was weird.
It had been just a few weeks since the unexpected transformation - Aubri, had he been given a choice, would only in very few circumstances choose to have a human body - and he still felt like a yearling lamb, stumbling over himself and unsure of his own body. There was no telling when or if he'd return to his own body; though, in some ways, this already was his body. He could see the traces of gryphon still present: tawny gold eyes, fingernails that were more like talons, a suggestion of feathers in amongst too-human hair.
He'd taken to the roof of his home - a ramshackle apartment - in this city of eternal dusk. He still like high places, go figure. Aubri knew he should be going; he was probably already late for his dinner with Mary. She'd done so many things for him, not the least of which was helping him figure out how to be newly human when he'd shown up (naked) on her doorstep.
But the breeze was just on the pleasant side of brisk and he imagined flying.

When he showed up very human and very naked on her door step, she'd opened the door to him before it even occurred to her who he was. Mary wasn't the type to let anyone roam around naked and unarmed in this place, she knew well enough how to take care of her self in case it was a bad deal. It wasn't though. After a hot bath to warm him she managed to dig up some of Johns clothes to get him covered.
Eventually she'd get the story out of him, but right now she was focused on making sure he was okay. She couldn't imagine how alien this must be for him. She always had hot food cold drinks and warm hugs when he needed those too.
Tonight it was roast, and some ground potatoes she had grown, she was aware that his stomach was probably still getting used to eating things cooked and things other than just meats. She was trying to help him there too. It was starting to get dark, and she was starting to worry about where he was. It was fastly becoming a situation of, to go look for him or wait.

He left the roof via the dim stairway at the back of the building and quickly crossed exited out into the alley. It still felt weird to be ground-bound and he sometimes felt as if he was about to trip over his own clumsy feet when he hurried.
Which he was and he did -- that curb jumped up out of nowhere. Uttering a mild curse under his breath, Aubri hopped on one foot for a couple steps in an attempt to keep from faceplanting on the pavement.
But then he was on his way and he'd be at Mary's door in ten minutes and hopefully he wasn't late enough that she started looking for him.
She would, too. He knew her well enough to know that.

She opened the door and seen Aubri there and visibly relief came over her. " Jesus, I was about to go scour the city for you." she said stepping aside to let him in. " Nothing happened did it? You didn't run into anything?" she was giving him the once over for any injuries.

"I lost track of time. I was on the roof." That probably told her all that she needed to know.

" I mean, I don't blame you. I would miss it too if I spent my whole life as this big glorious bird cat and then was made into a tiny squishy human." she said shoving her pack back into a side closet.

He spent enough time in front of the mirror, trying to become familiar with himself, to know that he still looked not quite human: tawny gold eyes weren't a common human color, feathers weren't often interwoven into human hair, and his fingernails were more like small talons, durable and sharp. Not quite right, neither human nor gryphon.
And totally grounded. "I do miss it."

" For whatever it's worth, no matter which form you're in. You're perfect to me." she said ruffling a bit of that hair feather mix on his head.

"What's for dinner?"

" Roast, and some of the ground potatoes I grew. I picked greens for a salad but I wasn't too sure if you're ready for that just yet, but it is an option." she said going into the kitchen and starting to pull food onto the table which was already set.
